Artist for a Day
For this citywide event New York City’s most innovative arts organizations open their “employee-only entrances” to individuals from the press, business, education, and civic communities. An “Artist for a Day” sees what goes on before tickets are sold for theatre productions, dance performances, music concerts, and art exhibitions. An “Artist for a Day” learns how arts organizations function on a daily basis by witnessing the different aspects of producing art. At the end of the day, along with other guest artists and their hosts, participants discuss the role of the arts in the life of the city at a town hall meeting.

  • Meet with producers, directors, and curators to hear the debate about choosing art for a production or exhibition.
